The need: align Saint-Gobain’s employer brand

Saint-Gobain has a largely decentralised business model and the group faces a permanent flow of mergers and acquisitions. One of the objectives Saint-Gobain’s HR team has set for the worldwide organisation is to align its global employer brand.

The solution: compare the participating countries

The Top Employers certification is based on a worldwide standardised methodology and adopts a consistent research approach in every country around the world.
Saint-Gobain uses the Insights derived from their participation in the Top Employers certification programme as a tool to develop harmonised policies. “It enables us to compare the participating countries in terms of alignment with our global HR strategy”, says Mr Magot, Vice President Executive Career Management at Saint-Gobain’s headquarters in France.

The insights help to measure, develop  and raise standards in order to improve  the general HR management.

The Top Employers Benchmark Report shows where certain practices and processes are applied within the Saint-Gobain group globally, and where not. “This means central corporate HR can notify the local organisations in order for them to realign their processes and practices.”

The result: develop and raise standards

Because it can compare its own performance against that of the other companies participating in the Top Employers certification programme, Saint-Gobain can benchmark the level of their HR organisation and adopt new best practices. Mr Magot: “Especially when it comes to measuring certain practices, i.e. how on-boarding is being carried out in the different markets, it helps to measure, develop and raise standards in order to improve the general HR management.” And that is a major asset for a successful company such as Saint-Gobain.
